Government statisticians produce national data such as price indices and surveys. The figures on this page are the RBI's statistics stream (DSIM) and the central government's Junior Statistical Officer post.
SSC's Junior Statistical Officer post has its own statistics or mathematics condition, set out in the CGL notice. RBI's DSIM stream asks for a master's in statistics, mathematics, econometrics or a related subject.
UPSC's Indian Economic Service / Indian Statistical Service examination recruits statisticians to central ministries.
Biostatisticians usually hold a master's in statistics or biostatistics and work for pharmaceutical and clinical research firms.

No. A figure given as basic pay leaves out dearness allowance, house rent allowance and the other allowances paid on top of it, and it is before income tax and provident fund or NPS deductions. The CTC breakup calculator on this site works out a monthly in-hand figure from a CTC.
The Department of Statistics and Information Management, which compiles the RBI's statistical data. The RBI recruits its statisticians through a separate DSIM stream of the Grade B examination.
