2 · Personalise (optional)

Salary figures are computed only when the chosen role has salary evidence for your experience band. Otherwise the analysis stays on demand and context — it never pretends to know your pay.

Try an example:

  1. Search a role199 roles across 38 functions — type a title above
  2. See its evidencesalary, demand, skills, location and industry — each sourced, dated and graded
  3. Personaliseyour pay and experience against the evidence — nothing you type leaves your browser

Choose a role above to see its evidence dashboard. Then, if you want figures for your own profile, personalise and press Analyse on the evidence: the result appears here.

How it works

  1. Match the role

Your title is matched to one of the 199 roles and its 956 title variations, and your years of experience to a band.

  2. Pick the evidence

Of the dated figures for that role and band, the best-graded one is used. Nothing is averaged across unlike sources.

  3. Adjust and index

The figure is adjusted by the State wage factor for your location. An older figure also gets a separate line indexed to today at a published salary-increase rate, marked as an assumption.

  4. Compare and grade

Your pay is set against it, and the answer is graded on how strong the evidence is. Weak evidence switches off any above- or below-market statement.

Worked example: the first example, worked by the tool

A newly qualified chartered accountant in Gurugram, with ₹9,00,000 fixed and ₹1,00,000 variable pay a year: ₹10,00,000 in all. These are the steps the engine took, in its own words.

  1. Your profile was matched at the "national, all industries" level to 6 observations for Chartered Accountant (newly qualified) (entry).
  2. The headline is the published average from Careers360: ICAI 60th campus placement ends, highest domestic package at Rs 26.70 lakh dated 2024-12-28, chosen because it carries the best evidence grade (MEDIUM) among the matches; a newer figure from a weaker source was kept in the series.
  3. It was multiplied by 1.289 because Haryana's urban salaried workers earn that much relative to the all-India figure in PLFS — a state-wide, all-occupation differential, so read it as coarse.
  4. Industry, company type and skills changed nothing: no verified level differential exists for them.
  5. Because the headline is 22 months old, an indexed line compounds it at a published growth rate; it is an assumption and graded LOW.
  6. The gap is the headline minus your total pay (₹10,00,000).
  7. The evidence grade is MEDIUM: Source confidence 0.70, match widened (national, all industries): −0.10. Only summary statistics (mean, maximum) are published. Figures reach the layer through a press report of the primary announcement: capped at MEDIUM. Observation is 22 months old (ageing): capped at MEDIUM.
Evidence for this profile₹16,10,000 a year

The published figure, ₹12,49,000, times the location factor of 1.289

Grade MEDIUMConfidence 46%
Why this grade
  • Source confidence 0.70, match widened (national, all industries): −0.10.
  • Only summary statistics (mean, maximum) are published.
  • Figures reach the layer through a press report of the primary announcement: capped at MEDIUM.
  • Observation is 22 months old (ageing): capped at MEDIUM.
Where the example profile sitsbelow the published average

A gap of ₹6,10,000 a year (61%) against that figure

Total pay ₹10,00,000

The comparison is with an average of campus offers, which are cost to company and include variable pay; it is evidence to take into a conversation about pay, not a verdict on one person's worth. Press the first example button above to see the full result, charts included.

What “Beta” means here

Salary Intelligence is in beta because it answers only where the evidence reaches. Today 35 of 199 roles carry verified pay figures; for the rest it shows demand and context and says plainly that it has no pay figure.

Works now
  • Role search across 199 roles and their title variations
  • A market figure, your position and the gap, for roles with verified pay evidence
  • Location factors for 32 cities, and an indexed line for older figures
  • A grade and a confidence score on every answer, with the reasons
Still limited
  • No pay figure for roles without verified evidence
  • No verified premium yet for skills, company type or education, so none is applied
  • The location factor is a State-level wage level, not a city salary index
How it grows

The tool reads the same evidence file as the role pages. Each new official figure widens what it can answer, and each dataset it may use one day (skill premiums, company-type differentials) enters only after it is verified and published in the data catalogue.

Questions

How does Salary Intelligence work out a market figure?

It matches your role and experience band to the dated pay figures on file, takes the best-graded one, and adjusts it by the State wage factor for your location. Where that figure is old, a separate line indexes it to today at a published salary-increase rate, marked as an assumption. Every step is listed in the result.

What do the grades and the confidence score mean?

The grade (HIGH, MEDIUM, LOW) rates the evidence: how direct the source is, how closely it matches your profile, and how old it is. The confidence score turns the same checks into a percentage. A LOW grade switches off any statement that you are above or below the market.

Why does it sometimes give no salary figure?

Because no verified figure exists for that role and experience band. The tool then shows the role's demand and skill signals and says that it has no pay evidence, rather than borrow a figure from another role or an industry average.

Is the result my in-hand salary?

No. Most figures are cost to company or basic pay, as their sources state them. The CTC breakup calculator turns a CTC into monthly take-home, and the income tax calculator shows the tax on any raise.

Is my salary stored or sent anywhere?

No. The analysis runs in your browser and nothing you type is saved or sent.
