PPF Calculator: Maturity Value and Interest
Enter what you put into PPF each month, up to ₹12,500 (₹1.5 lakh a year), and the calculator works the account the way the scheme does: interest on the lowest balance between the 5th and the end of each month, credited once a year, free of tax. It shows what you put in and what it grows to, and sets PPF beside Sukanya Samriddhi if you are saving for a daughter.

PPF: the questions people ask
How is PPF interest calculated?
On the lowest balance between the close of the 5th day and the end of each month, at 7.1% a year for October to December 2026, and credited to the account once a year. A deposit made by the 5th earns for that month; one made after it waits for the next. The calculator works the account month by month in exactly that way.
Is this PPF calculator free?
Yes. It is a free PPF calculator: no sign-up, and the figures you type stay in your browser. It works the account the way the PPF Scheme, 2019 does and shows the maturity value, the interest and the tax-free return. You can share the result as a link or a PDF.
What is the PPF interest rate now?
7.1% a year for October to December 2026, unchanged since 1 January 2024. The Government sets it every quarter, and a PPF balance earns whatever rate is notified for the time, so the maturity value is an estimate at today’s rate.
How much will ₹1.5 lakh a year in PPF give after 15 years?
At today’s 7.1%, ₹12,500 a month (₹1.5 lakh a year, the most PPF takes) for 15 years puts in ₹22.5 lakh and grows to about ₹39.45 lakh, all of it tax-free. ₹5,000 a month grows to about ₹15.78 lakh.
Is PPF interest taxable?
No. PPF interest and the maturity amount are free of income tax. In the old regime, deposits also qualify for the section 123 deduction (formerly 80C), within the ₹1.5 lakh a year it shares with PF, insurance and the rest. The new regime gives no deduction for the deposits, but the interest stays tax-free.
When can I take money out of PPF?
The account matures after fifteen complete financial years from the end of the year in which it was opened. Before that, a loan is allowed from the 3rd to the 6th year, and one withdrawal a year from the 7th.
