PM-KISAN 24th Instalment: How to Check Your Status, Why the ₹2,000 Did Not Come, and How to Fix It
The 24th PM-KISAN instalment went out on 30 October 2026: over ₹18,690 crore to 9.34 crore farmers. If the ₹2,000 has not reached your account, the reason is almost always one of a short list: e-KYC not done, land records not seeded, a bank account not linked to Aadhaar, a family flagged for physical verification, or an exclusion rule. This guide works from the PM-KISAN portal, its FAQs and PIB's releases: how to check your status, what each problem means, which fix belongs on the portal and which at the State office, and what the official numbers show about who has been paid.
On 30 October 2026 the Prime Minister released the 24th instalment of PM-KISAN at Banaskantha in Gujarat: over ₹18,690 crore to 9.34 crore farmers, ₹2,000 each. If the money is in your account, there is nothing to do. If it is not, the reason is almost always a specific, fixable gap in your record. This guide shows how to find out which one, from the PM-KISAN portal itself, and what to do about each. Every rule here is taken from the portal, the scheme's FAQs and the Press Information Bureau.
Written on 31 October 2026, the day after the release. Figures are from PIB's backgrounder of 30 October, the Cabinet decision of 31 July 2026 and the portal's own table of farmers paid in each period. The portal and the State governments run the scheme; this guide does not replace them.
₹2,000 — each instalment, three times a year · ₹6,000 — a year per farmer family · 9.34 crore — farmers paid in the 24th instalment on 30 October · ₹4.64 lakh crore — paid in all through 24 instalments · 1 February 2019 — the cut-off date for land ownership · 2030-31 — the year to which the Cabinet has extended the scheme.
How the scheme works
- Who gets it. Every landholding farmer family with cultivable land in its own name. A family means husband, wife and minor children. Since 1 June 2019 there is no limit on land size.
- How much. ₹6,000 a year in three instalments of ₹2,000, one in each four-month period: April to July, August to November and December to March. The 24th instalment is the August to November payment for 2026-27.
- How it is paid. Directly into a bank account linked to Aadhaar. The State verifies the farmer and uploads the record; the Public Financial Management System checks the account; and the money moves through the sponsor banks and the National Payments Corporation of India.
- What must be in place. According to PIB, benefits are paid after land records are seeded on the portal, and the farmer must link the bank account to Aadhaar and complete e-KYC.
How to check your status
- Open pmkisan.gov.in and choose Know Your Status under Farmers Corner, or use the PM-KISAN mobile app.
- Enter your registration number. If you do not have it, use the portal's Know Your Registration Number option.
- Look for the e-KYC, land-seeding and bank-linking details, and the payment record for the latest instalment.
The Kisan-eMitra chatbot on the portal answers the same questions by voice or text in eleven languages, including Hindi, Bengali, Marathi, Tamil and Telugu. The Beneficiary List on the portal shows who is paid in each village, and the same lists are displayed at panchayats.
Why the ₹2,000 did not come, and the fix for each
| What the status shows | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| e-KYC not done | e-KYC is compulsory for every registered farmer | Do it by OTP on the portal or app, by face scan in the PM-KISAN app, or by fingerprint at a Common Service Centre |
| Land seeding: No | Your land record is not linked to your PM-KISAN record | Go to the village revenue office or the agriculture office named under Search your Point of Contact; seeding is done by the State |
| Aadhaar bank seeding: No, or payment failed | The bank account is not linked to Aadhaar for direct transfers, or it is closed or inactive | Ask your bank to link Aadhaar to the account for direct benefit transfers, and keep the account active |
| Benefit withheld for verification | The department is re-checking suspected cases, for example land acquired after 1 February 2019, or more than one family member being paid | Wait for the physical verification, and keep land papers ready; where land came by inheritance after a death, it remains eligible |
| Not approved by the State, or registration pending | The State has not yet verified a new or edited registration | Follow up with your State nodal or district officer; check Status of Self Registered Farmer |
| Name mismatch | The name on the record does not match Aadhaar | Use Update Missing Information, or the edit option, on the portal |
| Excluded | The family falls in an exclusion category (see below) | No payment is due; if you were paid while ineligible, use Online Refund |
If your status shows every step done but no payment, wait a few days for the bank credit before raising a query.
Who is not eligible
The scheme's exclusion list, from the portal and its FAQs, covers:
- All institutional landholders.
- Families in which any member is a former or present holder of a constitutional post; a former or present Union or State minister, MP, MLA or MLC; a former or present mayor of a municipal corporation; or a former or present chairperson of a district panchayat.
- Serving or retired officers and employees of the Central or State government, their PSUs and autonomous bodies, and regular employees of local bodies. Multi-tasking staff, Class IV and Group D employees are not excluded.
- Retired pensioners with a monthly pension of ₹10,000 or more, again except multi-tasking staff, Class IV and Group D.
- Anyone in the family who paid income tax for the last year.
- Doctors, engineers, lawyers, chartered accountants and architects registered with their professional bodies and in practice.
Two more rules catch many applicants. The land must be in your own name: someone farming land still recorded in a parent's name, or a tenant farmer, is not eligible, though land that passes to you on a death becomes eligible. And ownership is judged on the cut-off date of 1 February 2019, with later purchases not counted for five years. A false declaration makes the money recoverable, with other action under law; PIB reports that ₹416.75 crore had been recovered from ineligible beneficiaries by December 2025.
Where to complain
- On the portal: the Helpdesk Query Form under Farmers Corner, with your registration number. Its status can be checked on the same page.
- CPGRAMS: the Centralised Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System also takes PM-KISAN grievances.
- In your district: the District Level Grievance Redressal Monitoring Committee, for a farmer whose name is missing from the beneficiary list. The portal lists State nodal officers under Contacts.
- Kisan-eMitra: for questions about payments and status.
Phone numbers circulate widely for PM-KISAN; we could not find them on the portal on 31 October 2026, so use the portal's own channels above. Never pay anyone to "release" an instalment: there is no fee to receive it, and anyone asking for one is not acting for the scheme.
What the official numbers show
| Instalment | Period | Farmers paid |
|---|---|---|
| 11th | April–July 2022 | 10.48 crore |
| 13th | December 2022–March 2023 | 8.12 crore |
| 15th | August–November 2023 | 8.12 crore |
| 19th | December 2024–March 2025 | 10.07 crore |
| 22nd | December 2025–March 2026 | 9.46 crore |
| 23rd | April–July 2026 | 9.45 crore |
| 24th | August–November 2026 | 9.34 crore on release day |
The count peaked at 10.48 crore in the 11th instalment, fell to about 8.1 to 8.6 crore for the next four, and has since settled between 9 and 10 crore. PIB describes how the system now validates Aadhaar and bank details and screens out ineligible applicants before payment. The Cabinet approved ₹3.15 lakh crore in July 2026 to continue the scheme to 2030-31, and the 2026-27 Budget provides ₹60,000 crore for it.
The next instalment
The 25th instalment belongs to the December 2026 to March 2027 period. No date has been announced. The portal and PIB announce each release a few days ahead; a date quoted anywhere else before that is a guess. The checklist below is what decides whether you receive it.
A checklist before the next instalment
- Check Know Your Status and make sure e-KYC, land seeding and Aadhaar bank seeding all show done.
- Keep the bank account active, and keep the same mobile number linked to Aadhaar for OTPs.
- If land came to you by inheritance, make sure the land record is in your name.
- If your family was flagged for verification, keep land and family documents ready for the visit.
- If a family member now pays income tax or has joined government service, the family is no longer eligible; surrender the benefit rather than face recovery later.

What if I received PM Kisan money but was not eligible? The money is recoverable. Return it through the Online Refund option on the portal, and use Voluntary Surrender to stop future payments.
